Thakoon

New York-based fashion designer Thakoon Panichgul was born in Thailand and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. After earning a business degree from Boston University, Thakoon moved to New York where he spent four years as a writer and editor for Harper’s Bazaar. He then enrolled at Parsons School of Design and in 2004, at the age of 29, he launched his namesake fashion brand.

With a nod to his Asian heritage and a talent for intricate detail, Panichgul has a knack for the ethereal—billowy organza and silk-linen dresses. Thakoon’s creations blend various distinct influences with dynamic ingenuity. His work is an examination of innovative construction –  imparting a feminine spirit, poised elegance, and playful wit.

In 2006, Thakoon was one of 3 recipients of the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund and was also nominated by the CFDA for the Swarovski Award for Best Emerging Womenswear Designer.

Thakoon has developed a cult following and created a unique niche, with collections of beautifully crafted, feminine designs that are as romantic and sensual as they are modern and intelligent.
